Janis Claxton

Janis Claxton, (Aus/UK) is choreographer, dancer and teacher based in Edinburgh based where she is Artistic Director of the award winning company, Janis Claxton Dance. For over 25 years, Janis has worked internationally in professional, educational and community dance settings. Her work is deeply influenced by the movement principles of Modern Dance pioneer Erick Hawkins as well as Contact Improvisation, Martial Arts and Alexander Technique. She has choreographed solo and company works, community projects and children’s theatre including for; JCD, National Dance Company Wales, Lung Ha’s Theatre Company, Traveling Light Children’s Theatre company and in 2010 she will create a work for China’s leading contemporary dance company Beijing Dance LDTX
